Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is an issue that affects 1 in 6 Americans. This is happening at a time when nearly 40% of all food in the United States is being discarded every year. On top of that, the pandemic has only exacerbated the situation, putting a major strain on food pantries and food banks.
Our Solution
We decided to develop an app in order to track, monitor, and eliminate food waste while helping food pantries streamline and manage their day to day operations. Our app was designed with feedback and user input from key stakeholders, including members of food pantries in our area as well as leaders at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
