Our Mission

We wanted to create an app that not only simplified the day to day logistics of a food pantry, but also track, monitor, and eliminate food waste.

Food Waste & Food Insecurity

In the United States, nearly 40 million tons of food is wasted each year. However, more than 35 million Americans remain food insecure with limited or uncertain access to food. Many food pantries utilize paper-pencil methods in recording data, but lack an efficient and comprehensive digitized platform to track information pertaining to food supply and food waste. Additionally, food pantries do not account for customization, such as dietary preferences and allergies that recipients may have, making it much more difficult to ensure that food isn’t wasted once it is distributed. The COVID-19 pandemic has created massive disruptions in the food supply chain, making it much more difficult for food pantries to ensure that food has reached end consumers and has not been wasted.

Our Goals

Our goal is to provide technological resources and a custom tailored app to suit the needs of a food pantry. Through a grant we received from the U.S. Army, we are proudly able to provide partner pantries with technological devices that can run our app. We hope to continue to deploy our app with other food pantries in our area, free of cost.
